#Thailand#Mukdahan#Nong Sung#Attraction Wat Tham Phu Pha Khao is in Ban Pao Subdistrict, Nong Sung, Mukdahan, formerly known as Wat Tham Som. It is a place of dharma practice on a hill under a rock cliff. After the Taliban bombed the Buddha of Bamiyan that is more than 1600 years old, the monks and villagers at Ban Pao jointly carve a Buddha image from a rock cliff to commemorate the Lord Buddha highly respected by the people of this area. Afterward, the villagers build a concrete road to the temple, monk's houses, and rooms for meditators. Since this temple is on a cliff with limited space, there is no space for building the main hall, so the rooftop area of the building is like the main hall for prayer. The Buddha image carved from the cliff is the main Buddha image of this temple. This temple is a place of meditation, it is not much well known, but to the local people, this temple is faith. A monk said most dharma practitioners are people in this area and nearby in the northeastern region.
